| Jake Ludwig takes flight and scores on the layup |
Streamwood headcoach speaks with media
- The North Stars grabbed the lead during the first quarter and never looked back, beating Streamwood 70-41 on Thursday.
- The North Stars pulled ahead early, claiming a 32-21 lead at the half. The North Stars cemented their lead in the third quarter, scoring 26 points.
- Notching 10 points in the first quarter, Jake Ludwig wasted no time sinking shots for the North Stars.
- Jacob Siewert broke away to lead Streamwood's offense with 15 points, including nine during the fourth quarter.
- Alec Goetz (11 points) and Nathan Didier (6) all had multiple three-pointers. Also racking up points for the North Stars were Jack Callaghan (9 points), Garret Johnson (4), Johnny Davern (4), Chase Gianacakos (3), Brad Dawrant (3), Erik Miller (3) and Armon Osborne(2).
- Also sinking shots for Streamwood were Cole Segar (9 points), Travious Brown-Utley (3) and Kiantae Allen (2).
- Streamwood head coach Paul Kowalyszyn said this after the game, " We got away from everything that got us to where we were in the first half," "We stopped sprinting back on defense. We stopped fronting the post. We were not on their help side. You can't leave their shooters open. They were open because we weren't in the correct position defensively." "I thought we played well in the first half," "We stuck to our game plan and the kids did everything we've been practicing.""Instead of fighting back I think we kind of curled up (in the third quarter),"
- St. Charles Norths head coach Tom Poulin had this to say, "I didn't think we were as intense as we wanted to be,""We were settling. It seemed like we were in slow motion. We weren't playing at game speed."
- "Defensively, we were more active," said Poulin. "We were moving our feet and getting deflections. That triggered our transition game. I thought it began with our defense and rebounding in the third quarter."
- "We told the guys what happened in the first conference game last year — Streamwood beat Larkin — and a lot of those kids are back," said Poulin. "No matter who you're playing every game is competitive at the varsity level. Anybody can beat anybody on any given night so you have to come ready to give it everything you have for 32 minutes."That's not too much to ask."
